When we decided to bring a slice of Italy to the heart of USA, opening Prato Bakery in Jersey City in 2015, we knew we wanted to honor our roots. Born and raised in Prato, Italy, for over 30 years, we felt a deep connection to our hometown, and we wanted that bond to be reflected in every aspect of our bakery—from the recipes we use to the way we welcome our customers.

Our italian made logo with a rich heritage

One of our first challenges was to create a logo that would encapsulate the essence of what Prato Bakery stands for. We asked ourselves: what could symbolize our dedication to authentic Italian tradition? Two elements immediately came to mind—the Emperor's Castle, a medieval fortress that stands as a proud symbol of Prato, and the cantuccio, a traditional biscuit that has been a culinary staple in our city since the late 1800s.

After an intense day of brainstorming and sketching together with our italian communications collaborators , we came up with a design that perfectly blended these two symbols. We imagined the majestic Emperor's Castle perched atop a cantuccio, representing both the rich history and the delicious traditions of our hometown. We knew we had something special, so we collaborated with our Italian web designers to bring this vision to life. The result was a logo that is now synonymous with authentic Italian baking in Jersey City and Hoboken.

Every aspect of Prato Bakery, from the packaging of our products to our coordinated graphic design, has been carefully designed in Italy. The logo itself was initially hand-drawn, with a focus on preserving the artisanal and distinctly Italian style that makes it so memorable. It’s a symbol that has grown to represent not just our bakery, but also the essence of true Italian tradition in the heart of Jersey City.
